review: broken beats
Silhouette Brown - Same - Ether Music
Soul at itís best! Summer is knocking on doors and for this it is the best time to release such an album. This is the debut of the up to now relatively unknown but extremely talented Deborah Jordan. The whole project is a 2000Black production and was licensed through Ether Records (Gilles Peterson, Patricia Marx).
Jointly responsible and surely a guarantor for first-classness are no smaller ones than 4Heroís Dego, piano-virtuose Kaidi Tatham (Bugz In The Attic) and last not least Bembe Segue on backing vocals. The result are exclusive and soft beats, quite oriented in Offbeat and HipHop, providing a calm, nevertheless varied longplayer. Convincingly programmed keys, reservedly interspersed percussions and the high point of the whole work, the warm and soft vocals of front woman Deborah are finishing this excellent thing. The red thread of Soul is never lost. This album is highly recommended to people who like to relax or to swing to innovative beats
